Privacy & Data Transparency

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026 • Effective immediately

At clipPlay, we believe in privacy by design. We only collect and retain the minimum amount of data required to deliver video trimming, format conversion, and clipping services to you.

Ephemeral Storage

Processed videos and MP3 files are automatically purged within 24 hours. We do not maintain permanent media archives.

No Data Selling

We never sell, rent, or monetize your personal information, links, or download history to advertisers or third parties.

Minimal Account Data

Google Sign-In is strictly optional and only used to track daily download quotas and synchronize your active jobs.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with clipPlay, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Submitted URLs and Job Parameters: When you request a download or split a video, we receive the target URL, requested timestamps, format selections (MP4, MP3, quality presets), and resolution preferences.
  • Technical & Telemetry Data: Standard HTTP request data including IP address, browser user-agent, operating system, and request timestamps. This information is used strictly for rate limiting, DDoS defense, and ensuring system stability.
  • Optional Account Details: If you choose to log in using Google OAuth, we store your Google User ID, verified email address, display name, and avatar URL solely for account authentication and quota tracking.

2. How We Store and Delete Media Files

When a video is fetched or converted by our workers:

  • Media files are transiently cached in secure, encrypted object storage (Cloudflare R2 / AWS S3) with presigned, expiring URLs.
  • Files are automatically purged and permanently removed from our storage buckets within approximately 24 hours of job completion.
  • We do not inspect, index, or catalogue the content of your media files for training machine learning models or any other analytical purposes.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

clipPlay uses client-side LocalStorage and session cookies strictly for essential functionality:

  • Remembering your UI theme preference (Light or Dark mode).
  • Saving your active job IDs and temporary download history locally on your browser so you can retrieve completed clips.
  • Maintaining authenticated session tokens if you log in.

We do not employ cross-site tracking cookies, third-party analytics pixels, or ad-tracking scripts.

4. Third-Party Services & Infrastructure

To provide high-speed downloading and processing, we rely on trusted infrastructure providers:

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Compute nodes and database instances hosted in enterprise data centers with industry-standard TLS encryption.
  • Google Identity: For secure OAuth 2.0 authentication without storing your Google passwords.
  • Content Platforms: Processing requests interacts with public video platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc.) strictly to fetch metadata and streams requested by the user.

5. Security Measures

All data transmission between your browser and clipPlay is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Our backend workers operate in isolated network segments with strict rate limiting, access controls, and firewall restrictions to safeguard against unauthorized access.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated quota records at any time. Because media files are automatically removed every 24 hours, no legacy media archives exist to delete.

To request manual account deletion or inquire about your data, please contact our support team.
